Los Angeles County offers a range of education options, from premiere institutions like Pepperdine to good value schools like Pasadena City College. Military students and veterans have many choices to pursue their educational and career goals in the heart of the Golden State.
Long Beach City College
This large public school is rated as a Military Friendly Silver school, due to its services and accommodations for veterans and military students. It not only provides tuition discounts and scholarships for military students and veterans, it also offers special orientation services, mentoring, and enrollment sessions.
Long Beach City College, also known as LBCC, serves nearly 25,000 students. It has a large number of programs for students focused on earning 2-year associate's degrees, completing avocational training programs, and preparing for transfer to 4-year colleges and universities. In addition, this school offers distance learning programs as well as evening and weekend programs that can make it easier for working students, as well as veterans and military students, to complete their courses.
Pepperdine University encourages military students to attend with an active ROTC program for both the Army and the Air Force. It also waives ACT and SAT score requirements for veterans and military.
This is a Christian school associated with the Church of Christ. It is home to the School of Public Policy as well as Seaver College, the Graziado School of Business, the School of Law, and a Graduate School of Education and Psychology.
