Baylor University

Baylor University offers a transition course for veterans, as well as academic support like tutoring to help them be successful in their education. This school offers programs to assist family members of veterans as well, with services such as child care, financial aid, and employment services. The university also offers assistance with professional development and career opportunities to veterans to help them successfully enter the workforce after graduation. Baylor University offers 142 bachelor's programs, along with master's and doctorate programs, which gives students a variety of educational options. This university is located in a mid-sized city and has almost 17,000 students in attendance.

University of Texas - Arlington

The University of Texas at Arlington has a Veterans Upward Bound program that offers support, counseling, tutoring, and mentoring for veterans and active service members. It also has a VetSuccess program that helps students transition from military life to college life via counseling and assistance with benefits. This university also offers an ROTC program and a student veteran organization. The school has many programs and courses available online to students who need a flexible education. The University of Texas at Arlington is located in a large city and offers degree programs ranging from a certificate to doctorate. The school has over 45,000 students in attendance.

University of Texas - El Paso

The University of Texas at El Paso has a military student organization that can help students with the transition into college life by having them work with other military students. The university also offers a military mentor program that pairs veteran students with veteran faculty, staff and upper-level students to help them achieve their educational and career goals. This school assists nontraditional students with programs and coursework available online. The University of Texas at El Paso has a range of academic and research degree programs to choose from at the bachelor's through doctoral level. This school enrolls nearly 24,000 students and is found in the large city of El Paso.

Texas Tech University

Texas Tech University acknowledges the importance of transitioning military members into an educational setting, so it offers a TechVet Boot Camp that helps students learn more about the school and gain useful skills for studying, time management, and more. The university also offers a Camo to Corporate career service that helps prepare veterans with tools and experience, including how to write resumes, interview, network, and dress when it comes time to enter the workforce. Texas Tech University offers many different academic programs for students, including some that can be completed online. The school offers certificate programs and bachelor's, master's, and doctoral degrees. Texas Tech University is located in a mid-sized city and has about 37,000 students in attendance.

McMurry University

McMurry University offers a BlueStreak Program that makes it easier for active military members to earn their degree, since many of the courses are held during the lunch hour or in the evenings, as well as offering special military pricing for the program. BlueStreak is offered in partnership with Dyess Air Force Base and the Community College of the Air Force. Many of McMurry's general student programs are also especially useful for military members, such as a first-year seminar that prepares students for campus life, career development services including guidance, part-time work and networking, and possible internship opportunities. Online degrees for business and nursing are available to students who need a flexible education, as well as a range of on-campus programs. The school has just over 1,000 undergraduate and graduate students in attendance.
