These universities present various programs that can be beneficial to the success of service members. For example, all of the following schools participate in the Yellow Ribbon Program, which helps veterans with tuition, particularly for out-of-state students. Many of these schools also have alternative programs that include online or distance learning.
Oregon State University
Oregon State University (OSU) has an Ecampus program where military students can easily complete their education fully online, wherever they are located. The university also has a veteran workgroup that provides different services to service members and their families to help them adjust into college life. It also has an ROTC program. OSU is considered a large school, with over 30,000 students in attendance. It offers a wide variety of programs, including agriculture, engineering, education, and health, and its program levels range from a bachelor's to a doctorate.
Eastern Oregon University
Eastern Oregon University offers numerous services that can assist service members, veterans, and their families with an easier transition into the university, including a veteran's club, disability services, learning assistance, and health and counseling services. In addition, it has an ROTC program for leadership training. The university also has many degree programs available online. Eastern Oregon University offers certificate programs through master's degree programs. This university is located in a remote town and enrolls just over 3,000 students.
Portland State University
Portland State University offers a VetSuccess program, which provides assistance with admission, financial aid information, university services, and career assistance for military service members and veterans. This university offers advocacy services to support military students in their transition into the classroom by meeting with other professionals to ensure their needs are being met. Portland State University offers several programs that can be completed fully online. This school is located in a large city and has almost 27,000 students in attendance. Bachelor's through doctoral degree programs are offered online and on-campus.
Southern Oregon University
Southern Oregon University has a Veterans' Resource Office and a student veterans association, which can both assist with the transition from military to education with information about admission, financial aid, and benefits. Western Oregon University
