Military Junior Colleges Overview
There are four military junior colleges in the United States. Though the schools share some common characteristics, such as offering the ROTC program, each school provides its student with unique and challenging opportunities to help them grow as individuals and leaders.
Marion Military Institute
Located on Washington Street, Marion in Alabama, Marion Military Institute (MMI) has been in existence for more than 175 years. Instruction in this Institute is guided by an accredited curriculum and upon completion, you graduate with an associate's degree. This institute also provides you with training and guidance to help develop your leadership skills, physical training and moral education that will get you ready for the army and for life.
MMI offers degrees in the fields of science, math, history, art, and other social sciences. Applicants can assess details of the degree programs and their requirements by looking through the school's Academic Catalog.
New Mexico Military Institute
Just as the name hints, this institute is located in Roswell, New Mexico. New Mexico Military Institute (NMMI) has developed a reputation over the years as an incubation center for leaders. For those aspiring to be leaders of their field in future, the NMMI Reserve Officers Training Corps (ROTC) program focuses on character development, academic achievement, talent development and the enhancement of your leadership skills.
All cadets who successfully complete the ROTC program are eligible for a 2-year commission to the U.S. Army, Marine Corps, Coast Guard, Air Force, and the Merchant Marines through the Service Academy Preparatory Program. Others go on to join 4-year universities and colleges. Most of NMMI graduates are admitted to the Arizona State University, Stanford, Cornell and other similarly coveted institutions of higher learning.
Valley Forge Military Academy & College
Popularly known as the Military College of Pennsylvania, the Valley Forge Military Academy and College (VFMC) offers an Army ROTC program based on four pillars. This program is intended to foster growth in the lives of the young cadets through personal motivation, leadership development, career development, physical activity and academic excellence. Although the ROTC program is designed for cadets transitioning to the Army, a significant portion moves on to pursue degrees in 4-year colleges and universities. Therefore, the education at VFMC is universal and applicable in any field.
The uniqueness of VFMC's ROTC program is that it offers training in cyber defense. This training is a critical distinguishing factor for graduates in the job market because, in the advent of increased cybercrime, companies and corporations want to hire employees who understand trends hurting the business and how to combat them.
Georgia Military College
The Georgia Military College (GMC) is also an accredited liberal arts college offering 2-year education and training for online students, residential students, and members of the U.S. Army ROTC program. Its mission is to produce educated citizens and outstanding community members through the development of character and intellect of the students. GMC graduates get to transition to a four-year college or the U.S. Army. GMC offers associate degrees in the fields of arts, science, and applied science among other associate degree programs.
The institutions mentioned above are the military junior colleges in the country. They are well equipped to provide you with the education and training you need for your next step in life.
