Enlisted careers in the military are available to those who have at least a high school degree, while officer positions require either a four-year degree or qualifying enlisted experience. Military positions provide pay which increases with education and experience, insurance, housing, and other types of compensation. Career Information for High-Demand Military Jobs

Intelligence Specialist

Intelligence specialists will need at least a high school diploma or an equivalent. In the Army, this position is referred to as a human specialist and is listed as an in-demand career; this position involves screening documents, materials, and sometimes people in order to gain useful information. Cryptologic technician, cryptologic linguist, and cryptologic cyberspace analyst are all similar positions which deal with processing communications, and are in demand for both the Army and Navy. Intelligence specialists should have skills in organization, computer use, communication, research and analysis.

Human Intelligence Officer

Human intelligence officers are responsible for duties similar to intelligence specialists, but are also responsible for overseeing and managing the specialists. This position is at the officer level, so applicants should either hold a four-year degree or have enlisted experience. Human intelligence officers should have strong organizational, communication, and problem-solving skills, as well as the ability to analyze data.

Signals Intelligence Specialist

Signals intelligence specialists are responsible for collecting and analyzing signals and communication. These positions are officer positions, so someone without military experience will need a four-year degree to qualify. Specialists are responsible for operating sophisticated military equipment for communications retrieval and analysis. Signals intelligence specialists should be able to communicate, organize, as well as gather and understand information.

Signals Intelligence Officer

Signals intelligence officers oversee signal and communication collection and analysis. Signals intelligence officers may also be responsible for decoding communications in order to find useful information. Officers will need either a four-year degree or qualifying enlisted experience. Signals intelligence officers should be skilled in organization, management, data analysis, communication, and problem solving.

Network and Database Administrator

Network and database administrators develop, implement, and manage networks and databases for military computer systems. They may also conduct security processes to maintain network safety. Administrators will need skills in communication, problem solving, and attention to details. This position is enlisted, and is currently in high demand with the Navy.

Geospatial Imaging Specialist

Geospatial imaging specialists collect and review geospatial images to provide necessary support and information for the military. These specialists require a high school degree or an equivalent, and will need to show computer proficiency either before or during training. Currently the U.S. Army is showing a high demand for imaging specialists. Geospatial imaging specialists should have excellent critical thinking and computer skills, as well as an interest in earth science.
