University of Miami

The University of Miami in Coral Gables offers a Master of Music in Business and Entertainment Industries (MBEI) and a joint Juris Doctor (JD)/MBEI, as well as a business-related Master of Arts (MA) in Arts Presenting and Live Entertainment Management. The MBEI is available in an online format and can be completed in as little as 18 months. Students must complete 30 hours of coursework and a cumulative exit exam. The MBEI includes core coursework in topics like music copyright law, international music licensing and publishing, and other legal aspects of live entertainment.

Florida International University

Florida International University in Miami has a Master of Music (MM) in Music Management and Production that combines business and management courses with music creativity. Students sharpen their skills through hands-on experiences in a performing arts internship. The program totals 36 credits and students must complete a thesis. Other coursework covers topics in grant writing, music production, live music operations, and business of music.

Florida Atlantic University

Florida Atlantic University in Boca Raton provides an MM with a concentration in commercial music. The program totals 36 credits and is designed to train students in their musical skills and the business of music to prepare them for careers as professional musicians. Students participate in an advanced commercial music internship to gain hands-on experience, as well as work with the school's record label, Hoot/Wisdom Recordings LLC. Coursework includes topics in music production, legal issues, music marketing, and music publishing and copyright.

University of Florida

The University of Florida in Gainesville offers a unique opportunity for undergraduate students to earn their Bachelor of Music and their Master of Science in Management (MSM) in 4 years. The accelerated MSM takes place during the students' senior year and trains students in management concepts that can be applied to various fields, including music. The MSM portion totals 22 credits and allows students to customize their degree through electives. Students in the program can also choose to participate in study abroad experiences and/or internship opportunities for experiential learning.
