Nuclear engineers, however, are in charge of workers like nuclear engineering technicians. They design the equipment that is used in nuclear power plants, among other important tasks. Nuclear engineers usually work in offices or power plants.

Nuclear Engineering Technologist

Nuclear engineering technologists, also called nuclear engineering technicians, perform many tasks related to maintaining a nuclear power facility. They do a lot related to monitoring radiation levels, such as collecting soil samples or maintaining the equipment that makes radiation readings. They are also well versed in radiation safety, and they educate others around them in their work space. Nuclear engineering technologists who work at power plants must travel throughout the facility on a daily basis to take radiation readings, often requiring them to work outside in many different types of weather. Other nuclear engineering technologists might work in laboratories or waste treatment facilities.
