Stephen F. Austin State University in Nacogdoches offers an online, 30-hour Master of Arts in Teaching degree program. This program is designed for bachelor's degree program graduates who have not earned their teacher certifications. The online coursework you take prepares you for Texas teacher certification in an EC-12 or 7-12 content area and includes classes on curriculum and instruction, ethical and legal issues in education, and classroom management. You are also required to complete a one-year paid teaching internship or a one-semester student teaching experience.

West Texas A&M University

Located in Canyon, West Texas A&M University has a 30-credit Master of Arts in Teaching degree program that can prepare you for initial teacher certification or help you meet state certificate renewal requirements in Texas. Your coursework in this program could consist of classes on human development, cross-cultural counseling, and multicultural education along with classes on professional development and classes in the specific field you plan to teach.
