Western Kentucky University in Bowling Green offers an online MBA program that can be taken full- or part-time and completed in just 12 months or as long as 5 years, dependent upon a student's pace. Students in the program must complete 30 credits, but must plan accordingly as each course is only offered once a year. Courses are offered in an 8-week, bi-term format and students must complete a capstone course during the final 6 credit hours of the program. Students in this program may also choose to earn a Certificate in Business Sustainability with only one additional course.
Northern Kentucky University
Northern Kentucky University in Highland Heights has an online MBA program that can be completed in 12 months and requires 33 credits. Students in the program must complete core MBA courses in topics like accounting, management, marketing and legal issues. In addition to core MBA courses, students choose coursework from 2 focus areas from the options of finance, innovation through competitive intelligence, or leadership. Students also complete a capstone experience that includes a practicum where students work in groups to complete various projects and summarize their results in reports.
Midway, Kentucky's Midway University offers a 30-credit, online MBA program that can also be completed in 12 months. The program provides students with unique areas of specialization, including equine management, tourism and event management and sport management. Students who choose an area of specialization do take some additional coursework to make a total of 33 credits that can be completed in 15 months. Coursework is offered in an accelerated, 8-week format and includes topics in business law, financial management, global business and leadership.
Murray State University
Murray State University in Murray has an online MBA program that, according to the school's website, has one of the lowest tuition rates in the nation. The program requires 10 courses for completion and offers several fully online concentration areas, including global communications, economic development, business analytics, health administration and human resource management. Students may also choose not to pursue a concentration and/or may pursue electives in other subjects that may prove beneficial in a business career, such as computer information systems. Core coursework for the program includes topics in strategic management, accounting, corporate finance and business analytics.
Campbellsville University is a Christian institution in Campbellsville that offers a 36-credit, online MBA program. Students can complete the program in 2 years and classes are 8-weeks in length. Online students may choose from concentrations in church management, accounting, international business, information technology and more. Students may choose to complete an optional thesis and take core coursework in subjects like ethics, organizational theory, managerial economics and human resource management.
Common Entrance Requirements
Students wishing to apply to online MBA programs in the state of Kentucky typically need to have at least a bachelor's degree and may need to have a few years of professional work experience, depending on the program. Most of these degree programs require GRE or GMAT test scores, but some may only require the scores if a student's transcripts do not show the completion of quantitative courses or the scores may not be required at all.
