The MBA degree typically refers to a Master of Business Administration, although some schools may tweak this term to a Master's in Business Administration. The greater Philadelphia area offers several different universities allowing you to earn this degree partially or fully online.

Schools in Philadelphia Offering Online MBA Programs

Temple University

Temple's Fox School of Business contains a flexible online MBA. Like many other schools, this online program is designed for working professionals who need to fit education into their professional lives. You'll have anywhere from 20 months to six years to earn the credits necessary to complete the degree, which includes an on-boarding of nine credits, 36 self-paced credits, and a final capstone course. Classes convene through web conferencing, and you'll only focus on a single course before starting another. You can also tailor the degree to your liking by picking one of the available concentrations.

LaSalle University

LaSalle's online MBA arms you with the tools you need to make difficult decisions in the business world. You'll choose the general track or one of five specializations: business systems & analytics, marketing, finance, accounting, or management. Regardless of your choice, you'll finish your degree after earning between 33 and 39 credits. Five different start dates are available every year for your convenience.

Drexel University

Drexel's online MBA offers asynchronous courses so you can dictate the flow of your class and schedule everything when it works best for you. You can choose to finish your MBA in two years, with a requirement of six credits per semester, or you can create a more flexible plan of study. Although the program is administered online, you will experience a residency on Drexel's campus to create a network for yourself. You can also craft the MBA into a personal structure, as the program allows you to choose minors and concentrations, or earn a dual degree.

Saint Joseph's University

At SJU, you can earn an MBA without ever setting foot on the Philadelphia campus. Classes are offered completely online with no residency requirements, but students can also choose to take some classes in-person if they would like. Classes are kept at low enrollment to allow focus on each student, with no more than 18 graduates concurrently taking one course. Many different concentrations are available, including international business, health and medical services, or finance. If you have the right undergraduate experience and enough time to take courses, you could finish your MBA in one year.

Gwynedd Mercy University

Located about 30 miles from Center City Philadelphia, GMercyU has several formats available for those seeking an online MBA. The accelerated, completely online MBA contains three different concentration options: transportation leadership, strategic management and leadership, and health care administration. If you live nearby, you can choose the hybrid class option, which allows you to attend courses on campus two nights per week. If you're already finishing an undergraduate degree in business, you can select the 4+1 MBA, which allows you to seamlessly enter graduate school.

Admissions Requirements for Online MBA Programs in Philadelphia

When beginning an MBA program, whether partially or fully online, you'll first need a bachelor's degree, preferably in a subject related to business or finance. You'll submit official college transcripts from all the schools where you've earned credits. You should also expect to submit GRE and GMAT scores, although some schools may offer waivers, and letters of recommendation. A resume is usually required as well, and this should include all of your accomplishments in the business world as well as any achievements from your studies. An essay/personal statement may be necessary, and this should include your career ambitions and how your background has prepared you to study at your chosen university.

Online MBA programs in Philadelphia are plentiful, and some offer the chance to take a few courses or conferences on campus to supplement your online courses. You'll find many different specialization options with these programs.
