Students participate in small, online classes each week and must complete 3 different on-campus residencies that take place on weekends. Students take 2 traditional courses each semester, as well as a 1-credit course that examines specific business issues, such as globalization, cybersecurity, risk management and innovation. The traditional 3-credit courses cover topics in areas like marketing, finance, statistics, accounting, business policy and leadership.
College of William and Mary
The College of William and Mary in Williamsburg has an online MBA program that requires 49 credits taken through 12 courses. Students can complete the program in 24 months, including 1 on-campus residency. At the beginning of the program students participate in a 'Renaissance Manager' cornerstone course that helps them choose a 'Wicked Problem' that they proceed to try and solve throughout the program as they apply knowledge and skills they learn. The program concludes with a practicum experience that focuses on leadership.
This school in the city of Radford provides an online MBA program that can be finished in 2 years. Students in the online program follow the same curriculum and admissions requirements as the on-campus program but in a part-time format. The program consists of 24 credits of core coursework and 12 credits of electives, which include optional thesis and research projects. Other electives allow students to focus their studies in areas like finance, marketing or management.
Old Dominion University
Old Dominion University in Norfolk has an online MBA program as well as a hybrid program. Students in either program can specialize their education through more than 40 available graduate certificate options.
