Job duties involve everything from scheduling training sessions to maintaining documentation of who attends Peace Officer Standards Training (POST) classes. It is crucial that you maintain accurate records, as you will be responsible for notifying personnel who are out of compliance.

As a police training coordinator, one of your primary responsibilities could be arranging the details for training sessions, such as booking travel arrangements or training sites and registering attendees. Another primary responsibility may involve assisting with sourcing new candidates for the department, which could involve conducting criminal background checks and participating in the hiring process.

Police training coordinators also provide more than just travel and human resources assistance. You may be tasked with creating the department's training program and associated literature. Police training coordinators may also educate trainers on best practices for instructing adults. Finally, you could get to assist with the department's technology needs, including keeping all social media accounts and websites up to date. The development of educational resources for community members, such as crime prevention classes and newsletters, might be part of your job duties as well.
