Overview of Small Presbyterian Colleges

All of the schools below offer bachelor's degrees, while Illinois College also awards master's degrees. With small enrollments, students can experience a close-knit learning environment at each school.

Blackburn College

Blackburn College had a 2017 student enrollment of 554, per NCES. The college strives to create a learning environment centered on service, social responsibility, and leadership development. The college awards bachelor's degrees in subjects like graphic art, human resources development, and education as well as minors in philosophy and religious studies. A unique aspect of Blackburn's curriculum is the student-led work program, which offers students a choice of working in one of 12 departments. Students can become involved in campus life through clubs and activities like cheerleading, a psychology club, Young Republican club, and Habitat for Humanity.

Stillman College

Students at Stillman College can complete their bachelor's degree in the following areas: journalism, English, studio art, mathematics, psychology, biology, history, and religion and theology. Study is also available in the areas of education, physical education, and business. With a 2017 enrollment of 677, students can experience a learning environment that focuses on developing their critical-thinking skills and strength of character. Stillman's Office of Student Activities provides leadership development and community service opportunities for students.

Westminster College

Westminster College's mission is to create life-long learners who display integrity and respect. The college offers 37 bachelor's-level majors, including accounting, sports management, health and wellness, and physics. NCES lists a fall 2017 student enrollment of 767 for Westminster. The college provides many faith opportunities for students, such as monthly chapel services, weekly Bible study sessions, and a praise and worship team. Other student activities range from a dance team and a college Republicans club to table top gaming and trivia clubs.

Davis & Elkins College

Davis & Elkins College awards associate's and bachelor's degrees. Academic programs include hospitality and tourism management, religious studies and philosophy, nursing, and pre-law. As listed on NCES, the college welcomed 837 students in fall 2017. Davis & Elkins has dozens of student organizations, like a debate team, student newspaper and yearbook, Greek organizations, and a paintball club. Students can attend chapel services on Sunday evenings and campus Bible study sessions.

Illinois College

Founded in 1829, Illinois College offers students a learning environment based on integrity and scholarship. The college counted 959 students for the 2017-2018 academic year, according to NCES. Students at Illinois can pursue bachelor's and master's degrees. The range of majors include editing and publishing, engineering, marketing, and agribusiness. Illinois' student organizations range from a Circle K club and an archery club to the Coalition for Ethnic Awareness and a symphony chorale. Along with these activities, students can participate in weekly chapel services and various faith-oriented small groups.
