Florida Schools Offering Graduate Programs in Sports Management

University of Florida

At the University of Florida in Gainesville, you will find a Master of Science in Sport Management. You'll have two options, a thesis or a capstone project, to finalize the completion of this degree. The program is designed to explain all of the factors that go into sporting, as well as legal concepts that you will see in your career as a sports manager. You'll learn how to develop financial strategies and revenue sources to keep your organization or players legitimate. UF also offers this degree online if you prefer the distance education format or don't live close to the campus.

Florida Atlantic University

At FAU, you can choose to pursue a Master of Business Administration in Sport Management. It's up to you if you want to earn this degree on campus or through the online program. You'll attend the on-campus version at the Boca Raton location every Tuesday and Thursday night during the spring or fall, beginning in January or August, respectively. If you take the program online, you can also start during the summer sessions, which begin at the end of May. An internship is part of this program, designed to demonstrate the practical application of what you learn inside your classes.

Florida State University

Located in Tallahassee, FSU is very diverse with its options for graduate degrees in sports management. To begin, there is a master's degree program in sport management, which has thesis and non-thesis tracks. If you want to make yourself even more marketable, you can choose the joint program that earns you another degree in law, giving you the title of J.D./M.S. FSU also issues a doctoral degree. University of South Florida

With USF, which is in Tampa, you can earn a Master of Business Administration in Sport and Entertainment Management. This is possible thanks to a partnership with the NHL's Tampa Bay Lightning and The Lightning Foundation. The program lasts for two years at a total of 54 credits. If you don't already have an existing undergraduate degree in business, you'll need to take several foundation courses to establish your background. During your second year, you will spend time in the Sport and Entertainment Residency Program, which involves on-the-job learning.

Lynn University

While earning your Master of Business Administration in Sports Management, the business relationships you can forge at Lynn University offer you the chance to work with the power players in sports. Admissions Requirements for Sports Management Graduate Programs in Florida

To begin, you will need a bachelor's degree before going on to a master's or doctoral program in sports management. Although your degree does not have to be in sports management, it would benefit you to have studied business courses at the undergraduate level. Your minimum GPA should be a 3.0, reflected on the required transcripts you must send to the graduate college of your choice. GRE scores are usually required, but the minimum recommended score varies from school to school. Letters of recommendation should come from those who are familiar with your ability to perform advanced coursework and research.
