Career Information for Tech Jobs for Extroverts

Computer User Support Specialists

Extroverts may enjoy interacting with customers and helping them solve various computer problems as computer user support specialists. These specialists must carefully listen to customers as they describe their particular problem, diagnose the issue and then walk the customer step-by-step through possible solutions. They may also train customers and other users on how to properly use different hardware and software, as well as giving feedback to management based on customer feedback. Computer user support specialists need some computer knowledge and may have an associate's or bachelor's degree, but it is not always required.

Network and Computer Systems Administrators

Network and computer systems administrators have to work with many different IT professionals on projects as they ensure an organization's computer networks are working properly, which may appeal to an extrovert. They may need to talk with computer network architects, database administrators and other computer systems managers to determine what upgrades and repairs are needed, how to better secure the network and evaluate performance. They also problem solve various issues with the network, train users and give the appropriate permissions to new users. Network and computer systems administrators typically need a bachelor's degree, but some may only need a postsecondary certificate or associate's degree.

Computer Systems Analysts

Extroverts may enjoy working as computer systems analysts, who often act as consultants and must interact with managers of an organization to understand their computer systems needs. Once they have determined the organization's needs, these professionals figure out ways to increase efficiency and analyze the costs and benefits of the solutions. Based on their findings, they may help an organization create a new system or change existing systems and test those systems to make sure the organization's needs are now met. These analysts usually have a bachelor's degree, but it may not be required for all positions.

Wholesale and Manufacturing Sales Representatives

Extroverts interested in sales and communicating with customers could work as wholesale and manufacturing sales representatives who sell technical and/or scientific products. These sales representatives must talk a lot with their customers to fully understand what the customer needs and then determine and explain which product may be best for them. Those who sell technical and scientific products, such as computer hardware or software, have to be able to explain the product, answer any questions concerning the product and then follow up with customers to make sure they are satisfied. Sales representatives who sell technical and scientific products usually need a bachelor's degree related to the field of the product they are selling.

Electrical Engineers

Electrical engineers usually work with project managers and other team members to design and test communications systems, navigation systems and other technologies and electrical equipment, which may appeal to an extrovert. These engineers work with project managers to stay within budget on projects and make sure that projects are completed well, but they also work with customers to correct any complaints or problems with a particular product. Electrical engineers may also design new products that meet certain standards and specifications and oversee the installation of electrical equipment. These engineers must have a bachelor's degree and usually some experience in the field.
