Overview of Some Top Florida Christian Colleges

What makes a college one of the top? The following colleges offer a variety of degree program options, strong faith on campus, and several extracurricular opportunities. Tuition is kept lower or financial aid is widely offered to students seeking economic help. These are just a few of the factors we looked at when highlighting a few of Florida's best Christian colleges.

Florida Southern College (FSC)

Named the 19th best regional university in the South by U.S. News & World Report for 2018, Florida Southern College has a unique 3-guarantee approach to education. FSC guarantees students that they will graduate in four years, study abroad, and take part in an internship. There are over 50 degree programs and pre-professional tracks to choose from, including marine biology, studio art, military science, nursing, citrus & horticultural science, and supercomputing. To cap off the education, students will also get involved on campus in one of the 100+ clubs and organizations, 20 athletic teams, or campus ministry teams that worship and serve together. Some of the ministry teams include the sandwich ministry, which is a ministry for local homeless communities; the upper room ministry for women; the student-led Beyond ministry and Bible study; or TZeDek, the social justice ministry. In 2015, all undergraduate students who sought financial aid were given some form of help.

Warner University

At #45 on U.S. News and World Report's list of the best regional colleges in the South for 2018 is Warner University. At Warner, students can study for their undergraduate or their graduate degrees. Associate and bachelor degrees can also be earned through Warner's online programs as well. Some of the on-campus undergraduate programs include criminal justice, hospitality & tourism, exercise & sport science, marine technology, and agricultural studies. Keeping God in your life is important at Warner. Chapel attendance is mandatory, and students are expected to earn at least 21 spiritual growth credits each semester, which can be earned through chapel attendance and faith-based activities and programs around campus.

Palm Beach Atlantic University

At Palm Beach Atlantic University, there was a 75% retention rate of first-time students (both full-time and part-time) who returned in 2016. On-campus activities are diverse, with over 40 clubs and 17 varsity teams. There is a chapel requirement for Palm Beach Atlantic as well. Chapel is held several times a week, so students should be able to meet the attendance requirement of 24 services each year. Helping in the community is a big part of attending Palm Beach Atlantic University; in fact, over 3 million hours have been volunteered by students as of 2018. There are also over 50 undergraduate and graduate programs from which students can choose.

Eckerd College

Eckerd College has an 82% retention rate for first-time, full-time students for 2016. Community service is an integral part of living at Eckerd College. Not only do students take part in several activities, Spring Break immersion trips, and volunteering, but one of the residence halls is community service-themed, so those who are interested in helping others can live together. In fact, every student must complete at least 40 hours of community service to graduate. Eckerd is also greatly involved in helping the Earth, not just the community. Sustainability programs, environmentally friendly residence halls, and solar panels that power the environmental science building are just a few ways students can help keep the world green. Campus ministry and living are just two aspects of life at Eckerd. There are a number of undergraduate programs available to students, which combine travel, internships, research, and practice. Women's & gender studies, ancient studies, international business, and geosciences are just a few of the majors offered.

Southeastern University

Southeastern University has a rich sports life, with ten men's teams and eight women's teams. Consider joining in teamwork in golf, soccer, cross country, baseball, football, or wrestling. Southeastern tries to keep campus life fun with resort-style living. This means that students have plenty of activities planned, several dining options on campus, and eight modern residence halls and apartments. Students can get involved in worship services and missions, but Southeastern's standout religious activity is that campus shuts down classes and buildings for an hour each week to provide spiritual mentoring opportunities to students. Southeastern also offers over 70 undergraduate and graduate degree programs.
