Schools Waiving the GMAT for COVID-19

The GMAT, or Graduate Management Admission Test, is an admissions exam that is designed to assess a student's academic readiness for graduate work in the field of business. This exam is usually one element that admission committees use to determine which applicants will be successful in their program.

Because of the COVID-19 virus, many GMAT testing locations were closed, and as a result, some students were unable to take the exam. In response, some universities have updated or changed their GMAT requirements, offering waivers or temporarily suspending testing requirements.

The schools below, which were chosen based on tuition cost, student retention numbers, graduation rates, and other factors, are offering temporary GMAT waivers due to COVID-19.

Louisiana Tech University

Due to COVID-19, Louisiana Tech University is waiving the GMAT requirement for MBA and Master of Accounting (MAcc) applicants for the Summer/Fall 2020 terms. In order to qualify for the testing waiver, students must have a GPA of 3.0.

University of Alabama in Huntsville

Applicants requesting a waiver for any of the programs in the business graduate school must either have a 3.0 GPA, 5 years of work experience with a 2.8 undergraduate GPA, or a previously earned master's degree.

Brigham Young University - Provo

Waivers can also be requested for the MBA and Master of Science programs based on professional experience as well. Currently, due to COVID-19, GMAT/GRE requirements are waived for all Fall 2020 applicants.

21. Columbia College

The Executive MBA program does not require GMAT/GRE scores, but instead focuses on transcripts, resumes, letters of recommendation and a by-invitation-only interview.
