Through study, demonstrations and a hands-on approach, students develop an understanding of microprocessor design in personal and microcomputers. Students examine the structure, static memories, circuit design and language programming of microprocessors. Troubleshooting of simple microprocessor problems may be covered.
DC and AC Circuits Course
This course is sometimes broken into two separate courses depending on the program. Students study direct current (DC) and amplitude changing (AC) circuits, especially in relation to resistors, capacitors, inductors, voltage, and harmonics. Through the design, creation and testing of these circuits, students learn laboratory procedures, troubleshooting techniques, safety, and tools.
Electronic Mathematics Course
Students studying basic electronics need experience with math courses, such as geometry, physics and algebra. Students learn how to use scientific calculators and formulas that help with figuring out voltage, distribution, and other circuit formulas.
Computer Installation and Repair Course
Through study of computer programming languages and software programs, students learn how to install software and troubleshoot a variety of problems. Students examine computer circuit boards, components, and memory. Students learn how to recognize problems with the internal structure of the computer and how to repair damaged parts.
