Orleans Technical College

Orleans Technical College offers job assistance, financial aid and job training programs. Enrollees can earn diplomas in a variety of trades, including electricity, carpentry and building maintenance.

Trades Diploma in Building Maintenance

This diploma program begins with the basics of the building maintenance industry, including the proper usage of power tools, blueprint interpretation and safety guidelines. Students cover the fundamentals of carpentry, painting, electricity, plumbing, air conditioning and heating.

Topics include pipe soldering, drywall installation, wiring, paint identification, window repair and how to troubleshoot a building's heating system. Pupils also learn how to prepare and set concrete.

A portion of the program teaches students the attributes of an effective building mechanic. These include ethics, customer service skills and a willingness to work as part of a team. Diplomas are awarded after 6 or 12 months of coursework.

Temple University

Temple University offers Bachelor of Science in Facilities Management. This program, which requires the completion of 122 credits, focuses on career preparation and analyzes multiple disciplines to ensure that graduates leave the school with a well-rounded education.

Bachelor of Science in Facilities Management

Students who choose this degree program can expect a diverse curriculum divided into various subjects. Students spend their first two years satisfying the school's architecture foundation studies requirements. After acclimating themselves to the program through these studies, students earn their final 60 credits in their junior and senior years. Students must take 26 credits of architecture courses and 18 business credits, and other subject areas include statistics, law, general education, and electives.
