Phlebotomy Technician Skills Certificate
Throughout this 9-unit program, students learn to use phlebotomy equipment to draw blood from in- and out- patients. The curriculum incorporates a variety of venipuncture and safety techniques as well as effective methods for blood sample preservation. The detail-focused training includes courses in medical assisting, which prepare students to take vitals and complete patient charts or other relevant paperwork.
These skills are taught through lecture-based classes and experiential training. All students complete 120 hours of externship experience in a supervised healthcare environment, such as a physician's office or hospital.
