Antonelli College - Cincinnati

Antonelli College offers a two-year degree program in massage therapy that prepares graduates for entry-level jobs. This program provides a minimum of 700 hours of training, which is required by most states. The massage therapy program is offered through the health and well-being division and is licensed by the Mississippi State Board of Massage Therapy.

Associate of Applied Science in Massage Therapy

Students gain clinical experience with therapeutic massage techniques, including sports massage, deep tissue massage and Swedish massage. Training also focuses on personal development, communication skills and professionalism. Students learn about body movement and function, as well as the concept of natural energy, including Chi. Additional subjects offered include hydrotherapy, exfoliations and body wraps, which are all spa-related training.

Program graduates are eligible to sit for the State Medical Board of Ohio Massage Therapy Licensing Examination. They may also take national certification and licensing examinations, such as the Massage and Bodywork Licensing Exam.

Beckfield College

Beckfield College offers a diploma program in medical massage therapy through the allied health department. This program meets state requirements and graduates are eligible to take the Ohio licensing examination or a national certification examination.

The college's Occupational Diploma in Medical Massage Therapy is a 55-week, four-quarter program that covers fundamental therapeutic techniques. Students learn massage modalities including deep tissue, neuromuscular and Swedish massage. Students perform extensive clinical practice. Courses include anatomy and physiology, fundamentals of massage, ethics for massage therapists and spa massage techniques.

Gateway Community and Technical College

Gateway Community and Technical College's campus in Edgewood offers a health and wellness program that allows students to focus on massage therapy. The program is offered through the health and wellness technology academic division. While the college is in Kentucky, the school is also approved in the state of Ohio.

Certificate in Health and Wellness Technology - Massage Therapy Option

The college offers a Certificate in Health and Wellness Technology - Massage Therapy Option, which is a 29-credit hour program that focuses on the various modalities of massage. Courses include medical terminology, CPR for healthcare workers, anatomy and physiology, massage techniques and massage therapy pathology.

Associate in Applied Science in Health and Wellness Technology - Massage Therapy Option

The Associate in Applied Science in Health and Wellness Technology - Massage Therapy Option at Gateway Community and Technical College incorporates the certificate program into a 61-64 credit hour two-year program. Students learn about various massage techniques, such as Swedish and sports massage, while they gain an understanding of health and wellness promotion. They learn how to use massage therapy to help patients recover from surgery, injury or illness and help athletes address specific needs. Other courses required include organizational leadership, interpersonal communication, English, math and first aid.
