Buffalo Public Schools Adult Education Division Programs

The Buffalo Public School System hosts adult education and vocational training courses through a program called Upskill. Some programs, such as those teaching English as a Second Language (ESL) and adult basic education, are offered free of charge. Other program options, including the allied health programs, charge tuition.

Career and Technical Education Courses

University at Buffalo - Millard Fillmore College's Adult Education Programs

The University at Buffalo is a State University of New York. Its Millard Fillmore College (MFC) offers a variety of classes and programs specifically for working adults. Non-credit adult education classes are offered in fields, such as human resources and personnel, information technology and biomedical sciences, among others. The Division of Continuing and Professional Studies offers several credentialing certificate programs, some of which are outlined below.

Entrepreneurship Certificate Program

This program is for adults interested in starting small businesses. The curriculum focuses on the attributes of successful business people as well as the ways to successfully begin business ventures with limited resources.

Paralegal Studies Certificate Program

Computing and Network Management Certificate Program

Hilbert College Adult & Evening Programs

Hilbert College in Hamburg, NY is ten minutes from downtown Buffalo. On top of its usual degree plans, it offers two bachelor plans for adults who are only able to take classes at night and online to earn an undergraduate degree.

Organizational Development

This degree focuses on those areas business employers need to lead their companies be it human resources, finance and budgeting, strategic planning, management or global integration. The program is a hybrid needing on-campus time one night a week and online for other work.

Business Management

The bachelor's degree in Business Management focuses on today's business needs in marketable skills in a global economy. Additional priorities stress leadership skills, business ethics, and cross-cultural management. Like the organizational development program, this degree is in the hybrid format as well.
