Amarillo College

Students at Amarillo College can pursue a certificate in automotive collision technology at this Amarillo-based college. The program, requiring 37 credit hours, includes training for both interior and exterior repairs. Students review basic refinishing, structural analysis and damage repair. The course in advanced refinishing reviews formula mixing and special spraying techniques.

Austin Community College

Austin Community College in Austin offers students an associate's degree program and two certificate programs in the auto body repair field. The school's associate's degree program in auto body collision and refinishing includes courses on shop management and repair estimation, in addition to various vehicle repair courses. The auto body collision repair certificate program includes courses on auto body welding, repainting and masking techniques, and students must complete an internship. The second collision repair certificate program centers on auto body refinishing. Coursework includes advanced blending techniques and an internship in the student's chosen specialization.

Del Mar College

Corpus Christi-based Del Mar College offers students a certificate program in the collision repair field. The school's certificate program in auto body structural collision/refinishing repair is a level 2 certificate and includes coursework in the diagnosis and repair of electrical subsystems. Students attain skills in metal repair, electrical systems, painting, wheel control, and climate control systems.

Eastfield College

Located in Mesquite, Eastfield College offers an associate's degree and several certificate programs in the auto body field. Students seeking an associate's degree can earn one in auto body technology, and a certificate in this field is offered as well. Additional certificate programs are available for those who want to become auto body metal technicians, auto body painters or auto body shop managers.

El Paso Community College

El Paso Community College offers a short-term vocational program in basic auto refinishing for those interested in collision repair technology. This 9-month program includes coursework that covers collision repair estimation, metal repair, shop procedures, auto body painting, vehicle design and automotive plastic repair.

Houston Community College

Located in Houston, Houston Community College offers its Auto Body/Collision Repair Technician Certificate program, which includes a cooperative education experience during the last semester of the 3-semester program. Students can expect to learn about vehicle hardware, structural analysis, refinishing, panel replacement and collision repair welding.

San Jacinto Community College

Located in Pasadena, San Jacinto Community College offers both certificate and associate's degree programs in auto collision repair. Associate's degree programs are available in auto collision management and auto collision repair technology. Regular certificate programs are available in automotive collision repair technician, automotive collision repair management and automotive collision repair/non-collision repair. The school also offers automotive collision repair assistant and automotive painting occupational certificate programs.

St. Philip's College

St. Philip's College is located in San Antonio. The school offers individual courses, certificate programs and associate's degree programs in the collision repair field. In addition to its collision/refinishing technician associate's degree program, students can earn a certificate in refinishing technology. Workforce development courses are available for those who want to study automotive body repair without enrolling in a full program.

Tarrant County College District

The Tarrant County College District is located in Ft. Worth. Students at the school can earn an Associate of Applied Science (AAS) degree in automotive collision repair. There are also specialized certificate programs offered in the fields of automotive metal repair and automotive refinishing.

University of Texas at Brownsville

The University of Texas at Brownsville, through its partnership with Texas Southmost College, offers two 3-semester certificate programs in auto body repair technology. The first program specializes in body repair, while the second program focuses on refinishing. Depending on the specialization, students may study basic metal repair, vehicle design, refinishing, collision repair estimating, color analysis and structural analysis. Both programs have an internship option.
