Students in the bachelor's degree program complete 36 credits in their major, including courses in communication theory, interpersonal communication, and political communication. The Master of Arts (MA) in Communication Studies program is an interdisciplinary program that helps students develop a theoretical understanding of communication at the intersection of culture, media, and rhetoric. University of Florida
Gainesville's University of Florida offers a number of relevant degree programs through the College of Journalism and Communications. A minor in mass communication studies is also available. Communication students have opportunities to study abroad; for example, a journalism professor takes students to Berlin every year.
The Master of Arts in Mass Communication (MAMC) degree program has several areas of study. These include journalism, public relations, multimedia journalism, and health communication. Online MAMC programs are available in global strategic communication, web design and online communication, and social media. Applicants to the PhD program in mass communication need to have earned a master's degree with a minimum of a B average in core journalism/mass communication courses. Courses in the graduate programs may include mass communication theory, legal aspects of mass communication, new media, research methods, and literary journalism.
University of Miami
The University of Miami is located in Coral Gables. The private university offers a number of communication degree programs through its School of Communication. Undergraduates can pursue a Bachelor of Science in Communication with eight areas of concentration, including advertising, journalism, and media management. University of North Florida
The University of North Florida is in Jacksonville. The communication department in the College of Arts and Sciences offers a Bachelor of Science (BS) in Communication program with concentrations in advertising, multimedia journalism and production, and public relations. Communication minors are available in communication studies and mass communication. An internship is part of the curriculum for the major. University of South Florida - Main Campus
The main campus of the University of South Florida is located in Tampa. The Department of Communication in the College of Arts and Sciences at this large school offers undergraduate and graduate degree programs.
