Community Colleges Offering Online Degree Programs
Many community colleges provide multiple degree programs online. For example, schools may offer associate degree programs in accounting, business, math or criminal justice. Three schools that offer a variety of online courses, certificate programs and degree programs include the College of DuPage, the Community College of Denver and Bellevue College.
College of DuPage
With its main campus in Glen Ellyn, IL, the College of DuPage offers over 250 courses online, some of which are part of associate degree programs. The college is the second largest institution of postsecondary learning by student population in Illinois. The school is accredited by the Higher Learning Commission and is a member of the North Central Association.
The College of DuPage offers several online degree programs, including:
- Associate of Arts programs
- Associate of General Studies programs
- Associate of Applied Science programs
Associate of Applied Science programs are in fields like fire science, library information technology and administrative assisting. Students enrolled in online programs can use the virtual Blackboard system for turning in assignments and posting questions, as well as commenting to professors and classmates. In addition to Blackboard support, students also have access to academic advisors and online tutors, if needed.
Community College of Denver
The Community College of Denver is a 2-year, public school located in Denver, Colorado. It is part of the Colorado Community College System and offers online course options. Some of the associate degree programs offered through online study cover the areas of accounting, communications, business and more. There are programs in arts, applied science and general studies. Some applied science fields are:

- Dental Hygiene
The school uses a specialized Web portal for general online classes and offers lab kits for science programs to be completed at home. It typically requires students in online classes to spend 1-3 hours online each week, in addition to completing traditional at-home study. Classes usually last either ten or 15 weeks.
Bellevue College is accredited by the Northwest Commission on Colleges and Universities and is the third largest institution of higher learning in Washington State. The college enrolls over 30,000 students annually.
Bellevue College offers both associate and bachelor's degree programs online, including an associate degree program in business and a bachelor's degree in healthcare and technology management. The online programs utilize Canvas for turning in homework assignments and interacting with both faculty and other students. Bellevue College also has a counseling center for students attending both on-campus and online courses. Some programs available are:
