Correspondence MBA Degree Program Information

The Master of Business Administration (MBA) program has been frequently represented online by a variety of courses, and the entire degree program can be completed online at many schools. After completion there are many career options for graduates.

Essential Information

Many online MBA programs are identical to on-campus programs except for how the course is delivered. Online MBA programs require the same time commitment and equal effort should be put into studies. The majority of MBA online programs are fully accredited however, prospective students need to verify the accreditation before entering a program. MBA concentrations include finance, healthcare administration or entrepreneurship. Prerequisites include a bachelor's degree and GMAT scores that are no more than five years old.

Graduate students will study finance, marketing, business and management courses during the two year program. Most online courses offer chat rooms to give students an opportunity for discussion with their peers. Students will need an up-to-date computer with a fast internet connection. In an MBA program, included required core courses may at times be replaced through challenge examinations or specific CLEP exams. Continuing Education Information

To verify their competency in business fundamentals required for an MBA, many with the degree take the certification test to become a Certified Master of Business Administraton (CMBA). However, no certification can guarantee competency in the application of those fundamentals. Although no further courses are required for certification, many applicants do study extensively on their own before taking the exam.

While correspondence programs are rarely found in a classroom setting, online programs are available. Students complete coursework in finance, business, data communications, marketing, and economics.
