Some schools offer this training as a stand-alone course, while other schools include CPR within larger programs, such as EMT certificate or exercise science degree programs. Below are short overviews of six schools in Connecticut offering CPR certification programs, as well as a comparison table showing individual school offerings and tuition information.

Asnuntuck Community College

Enfield-based Asnuntuck Community College hosts a CPR/AED certification course open to the community through its continuing education division. Students in learn cardiopulmonary resuscitation and how to use an automated external defibrillator (AED). This certification is good for two years.

Middlesex Community College

Middlesex Community College in Middletown offers two continuing education courses that result in CPR certification. The first, an adult and child CPR certification program, provides a full day of training and testing in CPR protocols. The school's second course in basic life support is designed for healthcare providers and includes training in both CPR and automated external defibrillators. Both programs provide students with a 2-year American Heart Association certification in cardiopulmonary resuscitation.

Northwestern Connecticut Community College

Winsted-based Northwestern Connecticut Community College offers a 1-day class in basic life support for healthcare professionals interested in CPR certification. Students learn to perform CPR as well as use AED equipment and bag-valve masks to remedy airway obstructions and triage cardiopulmonary problems. The class is offered on multiple Saturdays throughout the year and the American Heart Association fee is included in program tuition.

St. Vincent's University

Located in Bridgeport, St. Vincent's University offers both two different CPR classes. Its BLS fundamentals course is designed for current healthcare professionals and covers CPR for infants, children and adults.

Three Rivers Community College

Located in Norwich, Three Rivers Community College offers a basic life support certification program for health care providers. Along with helping students identify life threatening emergencies, this program will train students to perform CPR and mouth-to-mouth resuscitation.

Tunxis Community College

Students have three program options for CPR training at this Farmington-based community college. The school offers a 1-day heartsaver CPR and AED course that includes training in pediatric CPR, elderly CPR and airway obstruction. Specifically for healthcare professionals, the school's second program is in basic life support and CPR. This 1-day, 4-hour class covers 1- and 2-person rescuer CPR, as well as AED use and airway obstruction. The school's third program, a series of EMT basic courses, prepares students for state and national exams in basic EMT skills over a period of three months by including lectures, demonstrations and hands-on clinical observation hours. The school also offers a fast track EMT program for students desiring only weekday classes.
