Online Degree Programs at Indiana University

Indiana University offers over 50 online degree programs in a number of areas at both the undergraduate and graduate levels. Students can earn an associate's, a bachelor's, a master's or a doctoral degree through Indiana University's online division. While most of the coursework can be completed online, some programs may have prerequisites or require students to attend in-person conferences, workshops or advising sessions.

Online Associate's Degree Options

Students at IU have the opportunity to earn an Associate of Science in Histotechnology or Labor Studies online. The associate's degree program in histotechnology is designed for working professionals in the field and mandates that all applicants hold a certificate in histotechnology or equivalent experience before starting the online degree coursework. The labor studies associate's degree program does not come with any prerequisites.

Online Bachelor's Degree Options

Undergraduate programs that result in a bachelor's degree are available online at IU in several different subjects. Students may earn a Bachelor of Arts, a Bachelor of Science, a Bachelor of Applied Science or a Bachelor of General Studies. The program can ready individuals for further study at the graduate level. Many of these online bachelor's degree programs are 2-year degree completion programs, so students should already hold an associate's degree or prior coursework in the field before starting. Online Master's Degree Options

Master's degree students may be awarded a Master of Science, a Master of Business Administration, a Master of Public Affairs, a Master of Social Work or a Master of Library Science. These online graduate programs may come with residency requirements. For example, the Master of Science in Adult Education program requires students to attend a 3-day, face-to-face workshop on the school's campus in Indianapolis. Online Doctoral Degree Options

Individuals at IU who wish to earn a doctoral degree online can find a Doctor of Education in Instructional Systems Technology and in Literacy, Culture, and Language Education as well as a Doctor of Nursing Practice and a Doctor of Philosophy in Nursing Science. Students can learn through videoconferencing and online discussion boards. However, students may have to attend yearly conferences or residencies, and exams for the degree program may need to be proctored.
