Mt. Diablo Adult Education
Part of the Mt. Diablo Unified School District, Mt. Diablo Adult Education provides training for adult learners in various locations. The dental assisting program is currently offered at the Loma Vista Adult Center (LVAC) in Concord, and it is approved by the Dental Board of California.
Certificate of Completion in Dental Assisting
The first module of this 12-month program takes place in the evening and includes foundational coursework in topics like the dental assisting profession and dental anatomy. The second module requires daytime class attendance to learn chair-side skills and spend time in labs and clinics, and the third module consists of dentist office externships. Applicants must pass entrance assessments and possess current CPR certification. Additionally, some courses require background checks.
San Jose City College
Students may choose between associate's and certificate programs at this school, and both are approved by the Dental Board of California. Learners practice their skills in class with mannequins, and then they receive training in dental offices during a 120-hour, full-time summer internship.
Certificate of Achievement in Dental Assisting
