Atlanta Technical College

Atlanta Technical College offers programs at the associate's degree, diploma and certificate levels. Many of its programs are available in flexible formats that include day and evening courses and online learning options. Besides dental hygiene, its health technologies division offers programs in dental laboratory technology, dental assisting, medical laboratory technology, pharmacy technology and medical assisting.

Associate of Applied Science in Dental Hygiene

Students enrolled in the Associate of Applied Science in Dental Hygiene program complete 34 credit hours of general education courses as well as 52 credit hours of occupational courses. The general education courses include topics in anatomy and physiology, microbiology, psychology and public speaking.The occupational coursework requires students to complete courses in tooth anatomy, dental materials, oral pathology, pharmacology and pain control, community dental health and radiology. Georgia State University Perimeter College

Associate of Science in Dental Hygiene

The Associate of Science in Dental Hygiene is a 5-semester program that combines academic coursework with hands-on experience. Clayton State University

Bachelor of Science in Dental Hygiene - Registered Dental Hygiene (RDH) to BSDH Track

This program is for students with associate's degrees who work as dental hygienists. The RDH-to-BSDH program can be completed on a full- or part-time schedule through day or evening courses. Online courses are also offered. Required courses address dental management and marketing, applied research, advanced periodontics and clinical dental hygiene. Students also complete independent study. Participants can complete the upper-level dental hygiene courses in three semesters once they've completed the core courses.
