In the state of Oklahoma, students can find associate's, bachelor's and master's degree programs in a number of design disciplines, including digital and graphic design, interior design and web development. Some programs feature areas of specialization as well as electives. The ten schools highlighted below include seven public and three private institutions, two of which are in the Oklahoma state capital. Design-related programs of study include but are not limited to:

Northeastern State University
Northeastern State University in Tahlequah was established in 1851 as a Cherokee female seminary. Through the College of Liberal Arts, students can pursue a Bachelor of Fine Arts (BFA) in Graphic Design. Program coursework includes topics in typography, advertising, Web graphics and publication design.
Oklahoma Christian University
Founded in 1950 by the Churches of Christ, Oklahoma Christian University is a private institution located in Edmond. A BFA in either communication design or interior design is available to undergraduate students. The communication design program includes coursework in digital photography, graphic arts production, branding and interactive media design. Students in the interior design program learn about commercial and computer-aided design (CAD), 3-D modeling, textiles and materials.
Oklahoma City Community College
This Oklahoma City community college opened in 1972, and the school offers associate's degrees in a wide variety of design areas. The Associate in Applied Science (AAS) in CAD program includes the study of 3-D modeling, architectural applications, design mechanics and automation. Through the AAS in Digital Media Design program, students complete courses in electronic publishing and digital media scripting. The school also offers an AAS in Graphic Communications program with either a print media or multimedia emphasis, where undergraduates study advertising layout and applied graphic art. Other degree options include an AAS in Game Design and an AAS in Computer Science with a Web design and development option that provides training in Java, Linux and Visual Basic.
Oklahoma City University
A private institution affiliated with the Methodist Church, this Oklahoma City university originally opened as Epworth University in 1904. Unique to the school is a specialized BFA in Theatre Design and Production. Program-related courses include topics in costume design, technical drawing, lighting design and rendering. Students can specialize in different areas, such as scenery, costume, sound or lighting.
Oklahoma State University Institute of Technology - Okmulgee
Oklahoma State University's Institute of Technology is located in Okmulgee, and the school is known for its state-of-the-art resources and industry-based relationships. The AAS in Graphic Design Technology program requires seven semesters to complete and includes topics in advertising design and production. Students can also take courses in digital illustration and imaging, identity design and multimedia authoring.
Oral Roberts University
The city of Tulsa serves as home to Oral Roberts University, a private Christian school founded by the pioneering televangelist. Undergraduate students can pursue a Bachelor of Science in Graphic Design, and the requirements include coursework in motion and Web design, digital photography, typography and design technology.
Southwestern Oklahoma State University
A public institution in the town of Weatherford, Southwestern Oklahoma State University was established as a teacher's college in 1901. Through the Department of Art, students may consider a BFA in Graphic Design program that includes topics in typographic and applied design. Undergraduates also complete studio classes in 2-D and 3-D art.
Tulsa Community College
At this Tulsa community college, an AAS in Digital Media is offered with six specialized degree options. Unique to the program is a 24-credit concentration that provides students with the training they need to become a specialist in Adobe-based design. Courses associated with the digital media and Web design concentrations include topics in 3-D animation and graphics, scripting and the use of current design software.
Through the AAS in Graphics Imaging and Technology Management program, students also learn about press operations and take courses in digital file preparation and design layout. Additional degree options include an AAS in Interior Design program that provides training in lighting, CAD and presentation drawing.
University of Central Oklahoma
Founded in 1890 as the Territorial Normal School, the University of Central Oklahoma is located in Edmond. Through the College of Fine Arts and Design, undergraduates can pursue a BFA in graphic or interior design, and both programs require a 4-course sequence in design basics. Students in the graphic design program can also take electives in, among other topics, advertising, character and package design, airbrush illustration and portfolio development. Requirements for the interior design program include coursework in commercial and residential design, drafting, the history of home décor and custom-built furniture.
After completing 30 credits of required courses, graduate students in the Master of Fine Arts in Design program can choose electives in advertising, interior, new media and package design. Graphic design students may gain hands-on experience through the ClockTower and Inktank studios. Aspiring interior designers have the opportunity to train in the Charles Evans Studio.
University of Oklahoma - Norman Campus
The main campus of the University of Oklahoma system is located in the suburb of Norman. Through the Weitzenhoffer Family College of Fine Arts, students can partake in a BFA in Drama program. The design emphasis includes topics in costuming, lighting and set production.
The College of Architecture offers a Bachelor of Interior Design program that includes courses in furniture design, graphics and computer applications. Students in the Bachelor of Science in Environmental Design program take courses in building technology, architectural structures and design.
