College of Central Florida

Ocala-based College of Central Florida offers an Associate in Arts with a specialization in digital media. This degree program is designed for students seeking careers in Web and graphic design, as well as media production and manufacturing. Graduates also can transfer to a bachelor's program in digital media. Emphasizing theory and practice, this program's courses develop students' abilities to create and edit various forms of media through the use of digital software.

Florida Atlantic University

Located in Boca Raton, Florida Atlantic University offers a Bachelor of Arts in Digital Communication and Media/Multimedia program. Analyzing both old and new media, students in this program can learn about media production techniques and practices. They also have the opportunity to choose between sequences in multimedia journalism or film, video, and new media. Each of these sequences incorporates 120 credit hours and includes production courses and a multimedia practicum. Additional classes in the multimedia journalism sequence include news reporting, covering public affairs, and broadcast journalism. The film, video, and new media track features courses in video production, visual media criticism, and film theory. The college also offers a Master of Arts in Communication Studies and a Master of Fine Arts in Media, Technology and Entertainment.

Florida State College at Jacksonville

Located in Jacksonville, Florida State College offers a Bachelor of Arts in Digital Communication and Media/Multimedia. Comprising 120 credit hours, this program's curriculum focuses on critical thinking and production skills. In addition to completing two internship experiences, students are required to take courses in digital streaming and capturing, computer animation, typography, and recording techniques. Additional courses include 3-D animation, visual storytelling, and creative problem-solving for digital media. In a portfolio development course, students develop an interactive portfolio and can gain a greater understanding of industry practices and requirements.

Indian River State College

Located in Fort Pierce, Indian River State College offers a Bachelor of Applied Science program in digital media. Specializations are available in graphics and Web design, gaming and video, or modeling and simulation. Each of these concentrations includes a digital media internship, a portfolio development course, and a capstone project. Additional course options available to all digital media students include creative problem-solving in digital media, typography, and motion graphics.

Miami Dade College

Miami Dade College is located in Miami and has a 120-credit Bachelor of Applied Science program in film, television, and digital production. Designed to prepare students for careers as producers, sound engineers, and production managers, among others, this program features coursework in digital cinematography, sound design, production management, and digital effects, as well as production workshops and practicums. The school also offers film and television internship opportunities.

The college's School of Entertainment & Design Technology also offers an Associate in Science in Film Production Technology, as well as an Associate in Science in Radio & Television Broadcasting. These 64-credit-hour programs feature multiple hands-on production courses, as well as internship opportunities.

Northwest Florida State College

Northwest Florida State College is located in Niceville and has certificate programs and an Associate's degree in digital media. The Associate in Science in Digital Media/Multimedia Technology is a 2-year, 64-credit-hour program that combines graphic design components with communication skills. Seminole State College of Florida

Located in Sanford, Seminole State College of Florida offers an Associate in Arts in Digital Media. Faculty with professional experience in design and animation teach courses, which include drawing, digital video basics, digital imaging introduction, and interactive design fundamentals. In addition to offering personalized interaction, student engagement is facilitated by access to modern media software and technologies. The college also offers two certificate programs. The Digital and Interactive Media Design Technical Certificate program emphasizes the technical aspects behind digital media, while the Digital Media/Multimedia Production Certificate program focuses on 3-D animation.

St. Petersburg College

St. Petersburg College is located in Clearwater and has an Associate of Science in Digital Media Technology program. Offered at the college's Seminole campus, this program features required coursework in drawing, digital imaging basics, media sound, media planning, and motion graphics. Students also may select one of the following five sub-plans: digital media production, video game foundations, digital graphic design, digital video production, or interactive Web. Each of these tracks is composed of 64 credit hours and provides students with the opportunity to develop a digital portfolio. The college also offers several certificate programs including, the Digital Graphic Design Certificate, the Digital Media Multimedia Presentation Certificate, the Digital Media Video Production Certificate, and the Digital Media Multimedia Foundations Certificate.

University of Central Florida

The University of Central Florida is located in Orlando and has both undergraduate and graduate degree programs in digital media. Offered through the School of Visual Arts and Design, the 120-credit Bachelor of Arts program in Digital Media educates students in digital media technologies and theories. Core coursework includes digital cultural narratives, digital video basics, introduction to digital imaging, and real-time modeling. Within this degree program, students may also select a specialized track in game design or Web design.

The Master of Arts in Digital Media offers a track in visual language and interactive media. Available with a non-thesis and thesis option, this 36-credit-hour program includes courses in interactive story, previsualization, and creating transmedia stories.

Valencia College

Valencia College is located in Orlando and offers an Associate in Science in Digital Media Technology program. Students have the opportunity to pursue specialized tracks in video and motion graphics, live event video production, mobile journalism, and Web development. Each of these programs comprises 64 credit hours and features coursework that teaches students to apply design techniques and problem-solving skills to media projects. Additionally, each of these specializations requires students to develop a portfolio and complete an internship.

The college also offers multiple technical certificate programs for students interested in digital media.
