Inside Arabic

Arabic is one of the most widely spoken languages in the world, and the Arabic language exists as MSA (Modern Standard Arabic) and as various dialects. All written and reading material is in MSA, also called fus'ha. Students in an undergraduate degree program may take courses starting in basic Arabic and progressing to advanced Arabic. They develop their skills in writing, reading, speaking and listening. Students begin by studying Arabic letters and sounds and progress to studying different dialects.
