Cartographers, or mapmakers, collect spatial data and map the Earth's continually changing surface for a variety of purposes in business, government, science and industry. Cartographers usually have bachelor's degrees in fields such as engineering, geography, forestry or one of the physical sciences. Job prospects are promising due to advances in and use of GIS and remote sensing technologies.
