Inside Asian Therapies - Massage and Bodywork

Among the various forms of Asian bodywork therapy are Tui Na and one of the oldest forms of massage, Shiatsu. Shiatsu means 'finger pressure', and Tui Na means to push, lift and squeeze. Asian massage practitioners apply pressure of various degrees and rhythms to particular points on the body considered important for good health. They press, tap and knead to restore balance, reduce pain, improve blood flow and create harmony. Each therapy incorporates the principals of acupressure, although the specific techniques vary depending on the type of massage treatment.
