EEG techs may also be called electroneurodiagnostic (END) technologists or technicians. They are essential clinical and hospital personnel in today's medical industry. These professionals are trained to register electrical impulses from the nervous system, as well as measure brain waves and activity by using an electroencephalograph (EEG). These tests help doctors determine if a patient suffers from a brain-related disorder or brain damage and assists doctors in the diagnosis of problems like brain tumors, strokes and seizures.

Education Information

Aspiring electroencephalographic technologists and technicians may attend a community college or hospital program to receive training in electroneurodiagnostic technology. They take classes in medical terminology, anatomy, physiology, medical ethics, neurophysiology and neuroanatomy. Students learn how to operate medical machinery as well.
