The Basics of Certificate Programs

Those who are interested in continuing education without entering a degree program may want to explore opportunities for a certificate program. These programs are non-degree programs, and they are sometimes taken in conjunction with a degree program. Depending on the workload, certificate programs are usually the equivalent of a minor. Certificate programs cover a specific area of study and some companies now offer certificate programs and training for potential and current employees. Cisco, Oracle, Sun, and Microsoft are a few of them. Also, many schools, colleges, and universities offer certificate programs in a variety of areas, from nursing to technical communication. A certificate may improve one's employment opportunities.
