About Heald College

Established close to 150 years ago, Heald College is located in San Francisco, CA, with 11 other campuses across California and in the states of Oregon and Hawaii. This private, for-profit institution offers career-focused programs in healthcare, business, legal studies, and technology. Heald College is accredited by the Accrediting Commission for Community and Junior Colleges, an entity of the Western Association of Schools and Colleges.

Heald College offers online and campus-based courses for nearly 360 different diploma, certificate, and degree programs. Students can specialize in areas of studies such as business administration, construction management, computer and information systems security, medical insurance coding, and legal studies. Classes are available during days, evenings, and weekends, making it more convenient for students to work while attending school.

Students can also choose to participate in the school's internship or externship programs, which allow students to gain on-the-job training while still earning college credits. This school is also authorized to prepare students for technology-related certification exams, including the Microsoft Certified Systems Engineer, Cisco Certified Network Associate, and the Cisco Certified Network Professional exams.

Students who wish to study at Heald College must fill out an application, pay a $40 application fee, and be interviewed by one of the admissions advisors. Completion of high school or the equivalent is required. Applicants who graduated from a California public school in the 2005-2006 school year or later must pass the California High School Exit Exam. Depending on the program, prospective students may also be required to pass program-specific entrance examinations. Thereafter, an admissions advisor will recommend the applicant to a campus director, who will determine if the student is admitted. In Fall 2011, 85% of applicants were admitted.
