About Johnson and Wales University
Johnson and Wales University's main campus is located in Providence, Rhode Island. The 4-year private school also operates campuses in Charlotte, NC; Miami, FL; and Denver, CO. It is accredited by the New England Association of Schools and Colleges through the Commission on Institutions of Higher Education. In 2011, U.S. News and World Report ranked the school number 82 of the best regional universities in the North.
Although available degree programs differ on each campus, the school offers about 40 different undergraduate degree programs, including some for undeclared majors. The school operates five colleges: the College of Business, College of Culinary Arts, The Hospitality College, School of Arts and Sciences and the School of Technology. Through these schools, it awards associate's and bachelor's degrees. Students with culinary or pastry arts associate's degrees can earn bachelor's degrees through online programs in these fields.
The university's graduate school offers master's degree programs in education, business and criminal justice management. Additionally, students can pursue a Doctor of Education degree program in educational leadership.
Study abroad programs are available for all students in every major. The Providence campus coordinates all study abroad programs. The school maintains various international partnerships, and destinations include countries, such as Italy, France, South Africa and Ireland.
Students can apply to JWU anytime, although the school advises applicants to submit applications as early as possible in order to start by their anticipated date. The university accepts the common application, but also accepts a school-specific application that is available online and can be submitted online or by mail. In 2011, the school received nearly 12,000 applications, and accepted 76% of the applicants. The fall 2011 student body consisted of about 11,000 students, of which more than 9,000 were undergraduates.
Tuition and Financial Aid
Undergraduate tuition rates are the same for all college locations. During the 2012-2013 school year, undergraduate tuition was about $26,000.
