About Ogeechee Technical College

Ogeechee Technical College (OTC) is a 2-year, public community college located in the rural area of Statesboro, Georgia. Founded in 1986, OTC offers career and technical training, as well as adult literacy and GED programs, to a population of over 2,000 students.

As of 2011, OTC's faculty consisted of 71 full-time and 95 part-time instructors. During this time, the school had roughly 38 programs, and some of the most popular offerings included welding technology, medical assisting, accounting, emergency medical technology, and commercial bus driving. Students may complete some courses through distance education.

Ogeechee Tech's Career Services Office hosts a career fair, as well as seminars in resume writing and interviewing skills. The school's Student Resource Center offers face-to-face tutoring in math, English, and reading; online tutoring is available as well.

OTC has open admissions. Applicants who are 16 or older and have a high school diploma or GED may be admitted. Applicants who do not meet the requirements for regular admission may be admitted provisionally. Some programs have additional admissions requirements; prospective students should check the requirements for their intended programs. Students who haven't passed college-level English and math classes may need to take an assessment test.

As of 2011, 58% of students attended part-time and 67% were female. The largest racial/ethnic groups in 2011 were white (59%) and black or African American (36%). Slightly over half of OTC student were 24 and under during this time, and 99% were Georgia residents.
