About Sullivan University

Sullivan University was established in 1962 in Louisville, KY, as Sullivan Business College, delivering specialized business training to students. Since that time, Sullivan University has grown into an academic institution consisting of two Kentucky-based campuses and an online learning system; the other campus is located in Lexington, KY. Sullivan University has also created an Army military extension campus at Fort Knox that covers over 100,000 acres. The school currently serves as the academic home to nearly 6,000 students each year.

Sullivan University offered students 60 academic program options as of 2012. Undergraduate academic programs are set up in a 2 + 2 format, which means that students earn an associate's degree after two years before pursuing a bachelor's degree. Popular undergraduate degree programs include accounting, business and computer systems technology. Special learning opportunities are available that allow students to complete their degrees via weekend and evening classes as well. Graduate programs are available in business, computer and information sciences, pharmaceuticals and legal professions.

Students interested in remote learning can find 22 fully online program options and several certificate options via the Sullivan Global e-Learning system. Programs that were available entirely online as of 2012 included eight associate's degrees, seven bachelor's degrees and six master's degrees. Sullivan also offers an online doctoral program in management that can be completed in as few as 36 months.

Sullivan University evaluates applicants based on a number of factors, including SAT/ACT scores and an interview with an admissions officer. The university requires a 17 or higher ACT score or 1365 or higher SAT score for admission. Applications, which can be completed online, require a $100 fee and may be submitted at any time since the school operates on a rolling admissions basis.

As of fall 2011, 60% of all undergraduate students who began their studies were female, and around 60% of all undergraduates attended the university full-time during the same period. In the same year, about 62% of all undergraduates were 25 years of age or older, and the two largest racial/ethnic backgrounds of students were Caucasian (61%) and African-American (22%).
