Program Information

Applied behavior analysis is used in several applications, including working with children with a range of disabilities and with employees around issues of performance and satisfaction. It can also be taught with an emphasis on treating autism.

A number of universities offer distance learning options in applied behavior analysis. Most of these are in the form of graduate certificate and bachelor's and master's degree programs. Some schools structure their programs in a hybrid format, in which some courses are taken online while others require on-campus work. A practicum may also be required. For most online programs, students need basic computer skills, updated computer software and a webcam.

Some degree and certificate programs prepare students for certification as a Board Certified Behavior Analyst from the Behavior Analyst Certification Board (BACB). Continuing education courses can also be taken online to help maintain certification.
