Tulane University of Louisiana
This school's engineering programs are located in the School of Science and Engineering. The school features the Center for Anatomical Movement and Science and the Coordinated Instrumentation Facility. Most faculty members work with the research centers at Tulane University.
Bachelor of Science in Biomedical Engineering
Although there are no formal emphases offered, the school encourages students to focus their studies in areas like biomechanics, bioengineering or tissue engineering. Students also get to participate in a team project, through which they design a device intended to help a person with a disability.
Bachelor of Science in Chemical Engineering

Bachelor of Science in Engineering Physics
This program can provide students with a broad set of skills useful across multiple engineering disciplines. Students are required to complete courses in general and materials engineering, science, math and design. All students also participate in a summer internship at the end of their third year and a team design project in their final year.

Bachelor of Science in Electrical Engineering
This program offers concentrations in computer science and electrical engineering. Students can learn about math, science and computer concepts. The electrical engineering concentration also allows for a focus in communications or power and energy systems. Course topics include circuits, energy conversion and electrical machinery, as well as microprocessor design and engineering electronics.
Bachelor of Science in Mechanical Engineering
Students begin their freshman and sophomore years with studies in math, chemistry, physics, materials and general dynamics. Studies during the junior and senior years delve into fluid and thermodynamics, machine elements, heat transfer, vibrations and mechanical engineering electronics. The last year of the program requires either a thermal and fluid design project or a machine design project.
Bachelor of Science in Naval Architecture and Marine Engineering
This program is one of the few of its kind in the nation and begins with foundational engineering, math and science courses. The second year includes studies in marine design and form calculations. Junior- and senior-level courses consist of hull strength, offshore structures, ship propulsion and marine design methods. Students must also complete a marine design project. Since New Orleans is in the Gulf Coast region, students have many opportunities to pursue internships at local engineering and shipbuilding companies.
