Degree Programs

The Fashion Institute of Technology (FIT) offers over 30 programs at the associate, bachelor's and master's degree levels in areas of study like fashion design, marketing, international trade, communications, photography, illustration, computer animation and advertising design. In addition to the courses covered in the aforementioned subjects, students also take liberal arts courses, including English, history, science and mathematics.

Certificate Programs

FIT's credit and non-credit certificate programs are part of the institution's School of Continuing and Professional Studies and are designed to help students enhance or gain specialized skills. Credit-based certificate programs include training in computer-aided drafting, tailoring and patternmaking. Non-credit certificate programs include fashion styling, image consulting, brand management, event planning and computer design basics.

Evening, Weekend and Online Options

Evening and weekend programs at FIT are available at the associate and bachelor's degree levels and allow students to learn at their own pace. Associate degree programs include marketing communications, merchandise management and fashion design. Bachelor's degree programs include graphic design, international trade and illustration.

Online courses at the Fashion Institute of Technology are geared toward self-learners and offer the same content and materials as their on-campus equivalents. All work is submitted online, and students are expected to communicate with their classmates through online discussions. FIT's 140 online courses are open to degree and non-degree seekers.

Study Abroad Opportunities

The Fashion Institute of Technology's study abroad programs are available as summer and winter, semester-based and year-long programs. FIT's summer abroad locations include Europe and Great Britain. Winter abroad locations are available in Italy and China. Semester abroad locations include Hong Kong, Australia and England. Individuals traveling abroad may study art, fashion, graphic design, international marketing and production management.

Pre-College Options

FIT's classes for middle and high school students are pre-college programs open to those in grades 7-12. The programs are designed to help students explore the fields of design, art, business and technology and give them the opportunity to develop portfolios. Both for-credit and non-credit courses are offered. Training includes 4-day workshops, 12-day summer sessions, 15-week credit-based courses and 11-week weekend classes.
