Fashion Marketing Degree Programs in Georgia with School Options

Essential Information

In Georgia, students interested in the field of fashion marketing have limited options available. Only five higher-learning institutions offer a specialized degree that could lead to a career in fashion marketing. Such programs that are available lead to the award of bachelor's degrees. The development of a portfolio is often encouraged throughout a student's four years of education and an internship opportunity may be offered.

The following are profiles for four of the schools in Georgia that offer programs related to fashion marketing.

Brenau University

Gainesville's Brenau University made the 2013 list of best regional universities in the South by the U.S. News and World Report. The Art and Design Department offers a bachelor's degree in fashion merchandising that combines fashion and business courses to prepare students for careers in marketing and fashion promotion. The 120-semester-hour program includes core classes in marketing, fashion textiles, international business, merchandise promotion and professional development. Students also complete a portfolio review course and senior-level internship. The university publishes the Brenau Fashion Network, a newsletter to promote the successes of their students and provide further fashion resources.

Brenau's residential undergraduate experience is for women only. Men can enroll as nonresidential students in some programs.

Clark Atlanta University

Based in Atlanta, Clark Atlanta University is the largest institution in the Atlanta University Center Consortium, Inc., a non-profit organization with a mission to provide educational resources for students of diverse backgrounds. The 123-semester-hour bachelor's program in fashion merchandising offered by the Department of Art includes fashion classes in textiles, the history of costume, art foundations, fashion show production and a senior-level internship. Required merchandising courses include promotion planning strategy, trend forecasting, fashion marketing and creative fashion presentation. The program offers a range of electives for students looking to expand their knowledge in computer graphics, consumer behavior, principles of advertising and more.

Georgia Southern University

The Princeton Review has named Statesboro's Georgia Southern University as one of the top 294 business schools nationwide. The school's College of Business Administration offers a bachelor's degree in marketing with three available concentrations. The fashion merchandising emphasis is a 126-semester-hour program built on a foundation of business and marketing courses. It requires 24 hours of fashion fundamentals, merchandising and specialized marketing classes. Students looking for a deeper knowledge of fashion can take the elective courses in textiles and fashion presentation and promotion.

Savannah College of Art and Design

Savannah College of Art and Design, in Savannah, has more than 10,000 students enrolled in its range of creative career-oriented programs. The School of Fashion offers the Bachelor of Fine Arts in Fashion Marketing and Management, a 180-quarter-hour program that combines business principles, communication and design. In the core curriculum, fashion industry-related courses include merchandising, trends, forecasting and visual communication. Students are versed in workforce expectations through the professional portfolio practices course.
