Finish Carpentry Courses and Classes with Program Information

Essential Information

The detailed work found on furniture and in houses is done by workers trained in finish carpentry. They work with materials and tools to create artistic finishes for cabinets, tables, headboards, stairs and wall trim. Certificate programs are offered through many colleges for both exterior and interior finishing. Since finish carpentry is a specialized field, degree programs are not typically offered, but courses in finish carpentry may also apply to degrees in building construction, general carpentry, and related trades. Courses will cover tools, materials and techniques, cost estimating and shop safety. Apprenticeship programs may also be found in specialized fields. Some of the topics you can study are:

  • Power tools
  • Trim
  • Custom cabinets
  • Bi-level stairs
  • Gazebos
  • Blueprints
