Teaching programs are available at the undergraduate and graduate levels in fields such as elementary education, educational technology, secondary education and the history of education. Bachelor's and master's programs in elementary and secondary education prepare graduates to become licensed teachers. Secondary education programs commonly are in a specialized area, like English education, science education or mathematics education and prepare the graduate for certification in the chosen subject area. Students enrolled in teaching programs often observe teachers in local classrooms and get experience teaching students during a period of student teaching.
