The Oklahoma State University Center for Health Sciences, located in Tulsa, offers several forensic science master's degree options. A Master of Science (MS) degree option is also available for those who want to study forensic document examination.
The 38-credit master's program in forensic sciences features specialization options in forensic biology, forensic chemistry, and forensic psychology. Core topics include scientific writing, quality assurance, evidence analysis and statistics. Students can also pursue an MS degree option in forensic sciences administration with two paths. One path has an administrative focus and highlights issues with forensic administration, while the second path is ideal for students interested in becoming document examiners.
University of Central Oklahoma
In January 2010, the University of Central Oklahoma opened a new state-of-the-art facility in Edmond for its Forensic Sciences Institute. The institute continues to offer bachelor's and master's degree programs and now functions as a regional forensics research organization.
The bachelor's program in forensic science is a dual major program. Students can concurrently pair their degree in areas like chemistry, molecular biology, and digital forensics. The master's program is research-oriented with a thesis plus coursework. In addition to completing electives and an optional internship, students take core courses covering the methods of research, testimony and ethics, crime scene processing and lab analysis. Students can also take the MS forensic science-biology/chemistry degree.
