Ivy Tech Community College

Ivy Tech Community College offers an associate's degree program and a technical certificate program in massage therapy. Students who earn the certificate may have those credits count toward the associate's degree. Both programs prepare graduates for national certification as massage therapists.

Associate of Applied Science in Massage Therapy

The Associate of Applied Science degree program is a 2-year program that requires a minimum of 60 credit hours. About 70% of the program covers professional and technical skills, while the remainder covers general education required for the degree. Subjects covered include various massage techniques such as therapeutic and deep tissue massage. Students also learn about the business, legal and ethical aspects involved in massage therapy operations.

The degree program is transferable to a bachelor's degree program at a 4-year university. It prepares students for entry-level work within the massage therapy industry. Graduates obtain about 1,000 hours of training, which prepares them for the National Certification Board for Therapeutic Massage and Bodywork (NCBTMB) National Certification Exam.
