Associate's degree programs commonly are available for aspiring emergency medical technicians, nurses, occupational therapy specialists, medical assistants, cardiovascular technicians and respiratory therapists. Dietetics, health services management and health information management are common fields for bachelor's programs, while students may find master's programs in fields such as the health sciences and nurse education.

Many health care education programs prepare students for licensure in their field, and some programs require prerequisite coursework or health care credentials to enroll. Although schools sometimes offer health care coursework online, programs may include on-site clinical experience.
